Warren Buffett diagnosed with stage one prostate cancer

Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett says he will begin treatment for early-stage prostate cancer.
Tuesday, April 17, 2012

Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor known as much for his folksy wisdom as his investing prowess, announced Tuesday that he has been diagnosed with cancer.

In a letter to shareholders, Buffett, 81, said that he had been diagnosed with stage I prostate cancer.

Scans reveal the cancer has not spread to other parts of his body, he says. He will undergo radiation treatment beginning in July that will limit his travel.

"I feel great -- as if I were in my normal excellent health -- and my energy level is 100%," he says in a written statement.
